Winner - Law Society of NSW EEO Award

It is with delight that we are able to report that Australian Business Lawyers were joint winners last night of the NSW Law Society's Equal Employment Opportunity Award for Small/Medium practices. This category contains by far the most law firms.

Our submission emphasised that effective EEO in a workplace is dependent on a culture that internalises the values associated with diversity.  The Award recognises our firm's approach to our HR environment.  We believe this approach assists in our ability to effectively provide services to our clients.  Our firm works with a significant number of our clients on EEO related legal matters, providing services in the following areas:

• the drafting of policies
• training in EEO compliance (face to face and on-line)
• advising on EEO issues that commonly arise in the workplace, such as return from maternity leave, injured workers, bullying and interpersonal disputes  
• representing clients in proceedings before the Courts and Discrimination Tribunals
• investigating complaints of harassment and EEO breaches
• mediating workplace grievances and disputes.
